Star of Austerity (I)

"The Watcher"

Star

The Star of Austerity denotes a cold, clear look. It is typified by "The Watcher," a being whose only task is to truly see. The energy is that of PERCEIVING, of finding what is really there and what is really going on.

In the picture, the Star’s center shows energy separated from the dot, or consciousness separating itself from an object, in order to truly perceive it.

The Star of Austerity is shared between the ninth and tenth Houses. Therefore, "The Watcher" is part of "I REALIZE" and "I PERFECT." It also creates the light of the Sea of Labyrinths (ix).

The Problem

Cake (74)

Sign

This is the "goodie" card. To know I’ve made it, I want all the goodies. This is a tall order calling for material reward, a return on all investments — with interest — and physical satisfaction, complete with luxury, comforts and pleasure. The Cake is no subtle hint about human preoccupations, yet each of us seeks our share of comforts and the stability of having resources.

The Cake is in the House of The Matrix (II), and it represents the fulfillment of "I WANT."

The Goal

Arrow (71)

Gate

The Arrow symbolizes the ability of the mind to show decisiveness, to reach a conclusion, then follow it. This being able to make up your mind is kept from being bogged down by spontaneity. Here is the attitude that you can change your mind as freely as you originally made it up. In combination, the ability to chose and rechoose joins with the skill of steering a steady course of action once a decision has been made.

The Arrow is shared between the tenth and eleventh Houses and so represents the gateways of "I PERFECT" and "I EXPAND." It is also the Gate to and from the Sea of Quiet Flowers (x).
